Duas for Sadness and Grief
حُزْن
Grief visited every prophet. Yaqub wept until his eyes whitened, and the Prophet ﷺ knew the Year of Sorrow — sadness is not a weakness of faith but a place where dua meets the heart most honestly.
These supplications carried the prophets through loss and affliction; they are inherited words for heavy days.
1. Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel
Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs
Recited by Ibrahim (AS) when cast into the fire, and by the Prophet ﷺ before Uhud. Also the dhikr of those who trust Allah's plan for the future. (Bukhari)

أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Anni massaniya al-durru wa anta arhamur rahimeen
Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful
The dua of Prophet Ayyub (AS) during years of suffering. Allah answered and removed his affliction. (Quran 21:83)

3. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
