Duas for Hope and Trust in Allah

Duas for Hope and Trust in Allah

Hope (raja') is half of the believer's wings. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Let none of you die except thinking well of Allah" (Muslim). These duas give voice to optimism grounded in trust.

1. Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel
Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs
Recited by Ibrahim (AS) when cast into the fire, and by the Prophet ﷺ before Uhud. Also the dhikr of those who trust Allah's plan for the future. (Bukhari)
Source: Quran 3:173

2. Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire
The most beloved and comprehensive dua. The Prophet ﷺ recited it often. (Bukhari, Muslim)
Source: Quran 2:201

For indeed, with hardship will be ease. Indeed, with hardship will be ease
Allah repeated this promise twice — hardship is singular, ease is doubled. (Quran 94:5-6)

4. Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahlan, wa anta taj'alul hazna idha shi'ta sahla

Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahlan, wa anta taj'alul hazna idha shi'ta sahla
O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy, and You make difficulty, if You wish, easy
A dua asking Allah to make difficult matters easy — repeated by scholars for centuries.
Source: Ibn Hibban

5. Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer
My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.
The dua of Musa (AS) when he was fleeing and exhausted. Allah answered by giving him shelter and a wife. (Quran 28:24)
