La ilaha illallah — The Best Dhikr
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best dhikr is La ilaha illallah" (Tirmidhi 3383). It is the statement upon which heavens and earth were established, the first call of every prophet, and the key with which Paradise opens.
It negates every false object of worship and affirms the One — a complete worldview in four words.
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
La ilaha illallah
There is no god but God
Virtue and Source
The declaration of monotheism
When to Recite It
Recite it freely at all times — it requires no wudu and no direction. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged renewing faith with it often, and whoever's last words are La ilaha illallah enters Paradise (Abu Dawud 3116).
