What Does SubhanAllah Mean?
SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ) is formed from the root س-ب-ح (to glorify, exalt, or swim — as in moving through water effortlessly). It declares that Allah is free from any imperfection, limitation, or resemblance to created things. It is an expression of awe and reverence.
A Tree Planted in Jannah
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi one hundred times in a day, his sins are wiped away even if they were like the foam of the sea" (Bukhari & Muslim). In another narration, he described it as a phrase that plants a tree in Jannah.
When to Say SubhanAllah
