The Prophet ﷺ taught specific morning adhkar (أَذْكَار الصَّبَاح) to recite after Fajr. This guide covers the most authentic supplications, their meanings, and how to build a consistent morning routine.
What Are Morning Adhkar?
Morning adhkar (أَذْكَار الصَّبَاح) are specific supplications and phrases of remembrance that the Prophet ﷺ recommended reciting after Fajr prayer until sunrise. They serve as a spiritual shield and a way to begin the day in a state of gratitude and awareness of Allah.
Ayat al-Kursi — The Throne Verse
Reciting Ayat al-Kursi (2:255) after each obligatory prayer, and especially in the morning, brings the protection of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said whoever recites it after the obligatory prayer, nothing stands between him and entering Jannah except death (An-Nasa'i).
The Three Quls
Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times each in the morning provides sufficient protection for the entire day, as reported in Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi.
Sayyid al-Istighfar — The Master of Seeking Forgiveness
This comprehensive supplication, beginning with "Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa ant...", is the most complete form of seeking forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ said whoever says it in the morning with firm belief and dies before evening is among the people of Jannah (Bukhari).
