Dua for Travel — The Traveller's Supplications
Travel is one of the times when dua is readily accepted. The Prophet ﷺ taught specific supplications for boarding a mount — recited today when boarding a car or plane — asking Allah for ease, righteousness, and a safe return.
1. Takbir when boarding transport
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
Allaahu akbar, allaahu akbar, allaahu akbar.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.

2. Du'a for Travel
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
Subhaanal-lathee sakhkhara lanaa haathaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen, wa innaa ilaa rabbinaa lamunqaliboon.
How perfect He is, the One Who has placed this at our service, and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our return.

3. Traveller's Du'a
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ
Allaahumma innaa nas'aluka fee safarina haathal-birra wat-taqwaa, wa minal-'amali maa tardaa. Allaahumma hawwin 'alaynaa safaranaa haathaa watwi 'annaa bu'dah.
O Allah, we ask You on this journey for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance for us.
