Dua for Anger — What to Say When You Feel Angry

Dua for Anger — What to Say When You Feel Angry

Two men argued in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ until one's face turned red. He said: "I know a phrase which, if he said it, what he feels would leave him: A'udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajim" (Bukhari 3282). Anger is a spark from shaytan, and seeking refuge in Allah extinguishes it.

1. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil.

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
A'udhu billahi mina sh-shaytanir-rajeem
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil.
Source: Bukhari 3282, Muslim 2610

2. O Allah, forgive my sin, remove the rage of my heart, and protect me from the devil.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، وَأَذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قَلْبِي، وَأَجِرْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
Allahumma ighfir li dhanbi, wa adhhib ghayza qalbi, wa ajirni mina sh-shaytan
O Allah, forgive my sin, remove the rage of my heart, and protect me from the devil.
